The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is set to organize the Vijit Chao Phraya 2024 event from November 16 to December 15, 2024, along significant riverside locations. This event will illuminate the Chao Phraya River at night with innovative lighting, projection mapping, and modern multimedia, creatively blending contemporary elements with cultural heritage. Tourists will have the opportunity to experience the enchanting night-time atmosphere and be inspired to return. Attractions will include light displays, building projections, fireworks, and cultural performances. Selected performance areas will showcase unique features that reflect the rich cultural diversity along the winding river, including temples and important districts that highlight riverside lifestyles, transforming them into landmarks of the country. Historic sites along the Chao Phraya River include: Rama VIII Bridge: The 13th bridge over the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, connecting the Phra Nakhon and Thonburi sides. It is an asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge, ranking as the fifth longest in the world. Wat Arun Ratchawararam: An ancient temple dating back to the Ayutthaya period, originally known as Wat Makok. This royal temple is located in the area of the Grand Palace and was once home to the Emerald Buddha. Wat Kalayanamit Woramahawihan: Built during the reign of King Rama III, this temple, located on the Thonburi side of the river, features the revered large Buddha statue known as Luang Por To. Phutthayotfa Bridge: Constructed during the reign of King Rama VII to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Bangkok. It is named in memory of King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke. Tourists will experience exciting night-time activities across various locations, thanks to the collaboration of local communities and support from various agencies.
